It is vital that this Bill have support to pass. Not only will it further reform of policy for those directly impacted by the justice system, but it includes the following directive: (15) one person who has been convicted of a felony offense in the state for which the person has been unconditionally discharged, designated jointly by the deputy attorney general for the division of the Department of Law that has responsibility for criminal cases and the public defender for a three-year term; in this paragraph, "unconditionally discharged" has the meaning given in AS 12.55.185.
Those formerly and continually impacted by the criminal justice system absolutely MUST have a voice in ongoing discussions regarding the policies and procedures that continue to impact any justice involved persons.
